STATEMENT ON THE FATAL ATTACK ON OUR SOLDIERS BY THE BOKO HARAM SECT AT THE WULGO POST ON THE BORDER WITH NIGERIA

The Boko Haram sect struck again, killing soldiers on the night of 24-25 March 2025 in Wuglo, Borno State, in north-east Nigeria.

The death toll, as yet unofficial, is said to be very high. It is reminiscent of the night of 24 and 26 to 27 July 2021 in the same locality, when many soldiers from our Army were killed and a dozen wounded.

On my own behalf and on behalf of the militants and sympathisers of the CRM, I send my sincere condolences to the biological families of the valiant soldiers who died and to the great family of the Cameroonian Armed Forces.

I wish a speedy recovery to the wounded.

The resurgence of these deadly attacks by armed elements of the Boko Haram sect against our populations in the Far North Region, and even against our outposts, must, as I have already said on more than one occasion, be of concern to the military high command.

Indeed, these attacks, which are carried out with disconcerting ease and whose toll is increasingly heavy for our nation, suggest that there are major management problems in the military high command. It is time for the political authorities to come up with appropriate solutions to the profound and urgent problems raised by these recurring fatal attacks.

One of these problems is that of rejuvenating the senior ranks of our Army.

Unfortunately, troop morale, which is the primary lever for stimulating soldier bravery, does not seem to be a preoccupation of the high command. Soldiers are now talking about their suffering even on social networks.

Added to this is the thorny problem of manning and staffing tables, and more generally the logistical challenge, as well as the very sensitive issue of orphans and widows of soldiers who have fallen in the line of duty.

The Government must urgently address these problems, which jeopardise the safety of our soldiers as they carry out their patriotic mission.
