MK’s THOUGHTS N° 21 to 40
MK’s THOUGHTS N° 021-2024.
Our cultural renaissance will lay the foundations for our renaissance in all other areas. At the heart of this cultural renaissance lies the spiritual renaissance; it is only possible if it is uninhibited, self-confident, and not conceived as a new religious imperialism. It is a rehabilitated African spirituality, claiming no monopoly of the Transcendent, that will provide the breeding ground for moral values gullied by a long dispossession, reconcile the African with himself/herself and enable him/her to understand what is at stake in the lower spheres of life, the mechanisms that chain him/her to dependence on others.
MK’s THOUGHTS N° 022-2024.
Social liberalism consists of unleashing the energies of citizens in all sectors of society, so as to allow talent to flourish and develop in all areas, and to create abundant wealth in order to give effect to the requirement for solidarity, for which the State must be the main instrument, through a consistent social policy that avoids leaving the weakest and most deprived by the wayside.
MK’s THOUGHTS N° 023-2024.
People do not free themselves on their knees or by crawling, but by standing on the rock of law and justice.
MK’s THOUGHTS N° 024-2024.
The vanity inflated by (state) power, the contempt nourished by careerism and self-aggrandisement, the hatred fuelled by jealousy plunge those afflicted by them into a headlong rush of ever greater cruelty towards their victims. We need to prepare our hearts now to know how to forgive tomorrow, to spare our country from cycles of revenge.
MK’s THOUGHTS N° 025-2024.
In the face of tyranny, a people’s strength and salvation lie in its cohesion and determination. No force of oppression or repression can overcome a tenacious people, determined to win their right to live and their freedom.
MK’s THOUGHTS N° 026-2024.
A country must not settle with arms what it can and must settle through politics, in particular through dialogue. Otherwise, it will be planting a tree of discord that will grow back generation after generation.
MK’s THOUGHTS N° 027-2024.
Sovereignty is the very essence of the State, because it is synonymous with independence. It is the capacity of a State to decide its own affairs, to freely choose its interests, what is good for its people and what can determine its future. A non-independent territorial entity, even one with political institutions, does not constitute a State in the sense of international law and relations. The fact that a State is non-sovereign can only be a transitory situation. This is why, in its relations with other States, any State that is aware of its quality and status has a duty to fight constantly to consolidate or preserve its sovereignty, to recover it or not to lose it. This is a vital issue.
MK’s THOUGHTS N° 028-2024.
The clash of sovereignties drives relations between states, because sovereignties sometimes have opposing, incompatible or even irreconcilable interests. This clash can be more or less violent, depending on what is at stake. African states need to be prepared for it, because it is a recurring situation in the society of states.
MK’s THOUGHTS N° 029-2024.
Sovereignty and cooperation between States are delicate, sometimes turbulent, but their destinies are closely linked. One must be defended while preserving the other. This is the art of diplomacy and the science of international relations, which is a science of dynamic balance: avoid, if possible, having eternal enemies, never believe in eternal friendship between nations.
MK’s THOUGHTS N° 030-2024.
Self-conscious Nations are selfish entities. The ultimate purpose of their actions is the defense of their interests and not the concern to please other Nations. No Nation can be blamed for defending its own. Any speech to the contrary is deception. African Nations must have neither weakness nor bad conscience to protect or defend their interests.

MK’s THOUGHTS N° 031-2024.
It is through a well thought-out, modern and innovative education system that we will enable our young people to be equipped and capable of facing the challenges of today and tomorrow. We must offer our young compatriots not only basic skills and a solid civic and patriotic education, but also the tools they need to become agents of technological change.
Cameroon cannot be left behind in the face of global competition, where nations thrive on their ability to innovate. Through an education that is connected to global realities, we will be able to develop local solutions to African challenges and position ourselves sustainably on the international stage.
MK’s THOUGHTS N° 032-2024.
Most of our schoolchildren and students hate science subjects, especially mathematics and physics, because they believe that these subjects are beyond their intelligence. Experience has shown that the way these subjects are taught is one of the main problems. Consideration should therefore be given to holding national teaching days devoted to developing the most effective methods and demystifying the teaching of these subjects. The results of this work should be incorporated into the training of teachers of these subjects in teacher-training colleges and into retraining programmes for teachers already in post. It is at this price that we will achieve the scientific and technological revolution that our country needs for its development and security, as well as for its contribution to the scientific progress of Africa and humanity.
MK’s THOUGHTS N° 033-2024.
Learners and parents love prestigious educational institutions that train a nation’s elite in various fields. Every nation must have its elite institutions. Levelling down education in a country – no doubt to please the political establishment – is the surest way of organising the regression of that country. It is important to stress that the good reputation of a school, college or university is never acquired once and for all. It is maintained over time by perpetuating the best of its traditions. Every benchmark educational institution must have its own traditions, ensure that they are preserved and explore new fields that will keep it among the best.
MK’s THOUGHTS N° 034-2024.
The destiny of nation-states is not irreversible: neither their greatness nor their decline, neither their freedom nor their domination, neither their unity nor their division, neither their progress nor their regression. It is the primary mission of enlightened leaders to make the positive achievements of the nation they lead sustainable. Even though we have come a long way, after almost half a century of perdition and wandering in the cave of Nations, our country must bring out the light that lies dormant within it, so as to be at the forefront of the African Nations that are to build the new Africa that will astonish the world.
MK’s THOUGHTS N° 035-2024.
Not getting involved in armed conflicts that are not Africa’s does not mean that our continent should be indifferent to what is happening in the world. Otherwise, it could be surprised by the extension of a global war to its soil, whether it is called the Third World War or something else. The African Union, and in particular its Peace and Security Council, must meet as a matter of urgency to examine what the situation of our continent might be in this eventuality, a situation that is all the more worrying in that Africa does not possess nuclear weapons to organise its deterrence, and has formally renounced them. The Ukrainian adventure claimed in Mali and the extension of the war to the Middle East show us that our continent cannot afford to bury its head in the sand, because no one is safe from anything.
MK’s THOUGHTS N° 036-2024.
The road is long for those who are not prepared for the journey. The trials of the path discourage those who do not know where they are going and why.
MK’s THOUGHTS N° 037-2024.
Fighting is all the more exhilarating because defeat is possible. Never take victory for granted, because if you do, it will set you on the road to defeat. Victory is the reward for constant, tenacious effort. You must desire it with all your soul, seek it with all your strength, and always be prepared to pay the price.
MK’s THOUGHTS N° 038-2024.
Betraying one’s country for the benefit of a foreign country, or one’s people in the service of their executioners, is the greatest crime a citizen can commit. It brings a curse of lineage upon him or her. No forgiveness can erase it. It robs him of peace and dignity forever.
MK’s THOUGHTS N° 039-2024.
Beyond the strong sense of welcome and hospitality intrinsic to African civilisations, slavery and colonisation were first and foremost the logical consequences of our technological inferiority, particularly in the field of defence. All our efforts and energy must be directed towards the conquest and mastery of technological know-how if we are to guard against colonial reconquest and new forms of slavery.
MK’s THOUGHTS N° 040-2024.
In relations between nations, when you have nothing to offer, you cannot expect to receive anything. Aid being, as we know, a scam, African nations are the only ones that continue to offer without receiving and to believe in the generosity of others. They will only develop and acquire the factors of power if they are capable of always demanding a substantial counterpart in return for what they offer to other nations.
